Mud, head torches and Christmas stockings. Yes, that’s how we celebrated the fourth Aspire Moving Meet! On Friday 29th November, the festive meet, in partnership with Find a Race and Advent Running, included a 5K head torch run and drinks at a local pub. Taking place in Richmond on a chilly London evening, it proved to be the perfect way to kick off the Advent Run challenge.

So, what is the Advent Run challenge? Well, the aim is to be active on every single day in December. This can mean going for a run or a walk, heading to the gym or a yoga class, or even just spending some time to yourself to escape the chaos of everyday life. Our meet took place in late November, but our aim was to build a positive buzz ahead of the last month of the year.

The usual format for our Moving Meets stood as per normal, too. This meant it was a great opportunity to invite a select member of the Aspire community to come together and catch up, on the move. Our focus was on the Advent Run challenge and gearing up for a positive and healthy end to the year, but it also made for a great opportunity to look forward to 2020.

Advent Running Founder James Pool lead the head torch run on what turned out to be an extremely dark, wet and mud-packed Richmond Park route. But this didn’t stop the meet’s attendees from having a great time; the guys from Find a Race, members from our running and media community and James’ running connections soaked it all up, with almost no questions asked…

After the fun 5K run, we all headed back to the pub where we all met originally for drinks and socialising. This is also where we handed out our Christmas-inspired goody bags, which included some great items from On, Canyon and SIS. The fire was burning, the lights were dimly lit and the atmosphere was very winter-perfect as we all networked and made the most of the evening.

On the night, Ledlenser were kind enough to gift us a brilliant selection of head torches for the run. It goes without saying, but we are extremely grateful for this – and everyone in attendance was, too. I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who made it along on the night; hopefully we can pick up where we left off with more Moving Meets events next year.

If you are taking part in Advent Running this year, keep up the good work!
