Top running publications – Runner’s World, Men’s Running/Women’s Running, Athletics Weekly and Running Monthly host annual awards and shoe guides, when brands are invited to submit their products for review. These annual awards and guides were conceived to help readers determine the best products on the market. The publications deploy teams of runners to carry out rigorous testing across a range of categories from shoes to apparel to nutrition to gadgets with special rewards for the best products based on a wide range of predetermined criteria. The testing panel comprises of experienced runners of varying abilities and is overseen by the editorial team. The winners are featured in the print magazines and online, so success amounts to prime coverage for our client. Through meticulous preparation we have ensured that each submitted application gives the shoe the best shot at award success.
We ensure that the award is submitted in a timely manner, meeting deadlines. The first stage involves choosing which shoes to enter and to which category. This is done in liaison with the client. We then gather all relevant background information including detailed product specifications and engaging photography. The entry process invites you to outline why the nominated shoe fulfils the awards criteria. We craft the copy and make sure that On stand our against their competitors. We look at USPs – covering key points such as value for money, quality, ease of use and practicalities. There is also opportunity to make a personal pitch with any other reasons why the shoe should win their category. We also provide the correct shoe model and sizes for testers and any background literature to complete the entry submission.
We started working with On in 2011. At the time we worked successfully to launch On running shoes into the UK market. On, based in Zurich, Switzerland continues to grow apace. The On running shoe is distributed in more than 25 countries in Europe, the US and Asia-Pacific. We have a long-term partnership with On to establish their products in the UK.
We handle all UK PR media relations for On and manage a product seeding programme. One-off tasks have included event sponsorship at The London Duathlon & Richmond Park Marathon and exhibition presence at TCR, The London Marathon Expo, The London Running Show & The London Triathlon Expo. We organised the athlete and team sponsorship programme in the UK and developed promotional initiatives for retailers.
