The award-winning Swiss-based running shoe manufacturer is further extending its range with a new trio of must-have items for lovers of peaks and trails.

ZURICH, SWITZERLAND – Swiss-based running shoe manufacturer On has been thrilling customers with its innovative technologies and reductive designs since 2010. Over five million runners and walkers now have Ons on their feet. Alongside its running roots, On has strong connections with the mountains, too. Its three co-founders all grew up in the Swiss Alps. So they’re well aware of what makes for good equipment: strong stability and high durability on the one hand, and liberating lightness on the other. And it’s precisely these qualities that On has combined in its new Cloudrock Waterproof, Cloudventure Peak and Waterproof Anorak products.

The Cloudrock Waterproof

The stable and surprisingly light Cloudrock Waterproof is On’s first hiking shoe. Its state-of-the-art membrane protects against wind and water while still permitting optimum air circulation. Like all On shoes, the Cloudrock Waterproof features the unique “Cloud” elements on its soles, along with On’s patented CloudTech® technology which ensures a cushioning impact and efficient energy conservation for maximum comfort on longer hiking adventures. A firm grip in harsh terrain is also assured through the shoe’s Missiongrip™ particularly adherent rubber sole that covers the Cloud elements.

The Cloudventure Peak

The new Cloudventure Peak is made for hill and mountain speed. On’s co-founder and former pro sportsman Olivier Bernhard and his team have created an ultra-light competitive trail shoe whose inner sock construction offers optimum foot support. On the way up, the shoe’s Missiongrip™ sole delivers all the traction needed to surge past the field. And on the way down, the protective downhill cushioning comes into its own as each of the sole’s unique Cloud elements provides the vertical and horizontal movement required.

The Waterproof Anorak

On’s new Waterproof Anorak protects against wind and water to let adventurers enjoy the outdoors whatever the weather’s moods. The Anorak’s three-layer membrane with its 20,000 mm water column will keep the wearer dry in even the heaviest of rain. The garment also boasts smart air vents at the front and back for optimum temperature regulation. And being made of PTFE-free materials, the On Waterproof Anorak puts minimal strain on its wearer’s favourite playground, the Great Outdoors.

All three products are officially available from 18 July. High-resolution images of the new On outdoor line are available via this link.

Background Information

Who is On?

On is a young Swiss sports company based in Zurich (Switzerland), Portland (Oregon, USA), Yokohama (Japan) and Melbourne (Australia). It has one simple mission: make running fun. A team of sports scientists, world-class athletes and designers spearhead this mantra.

On running shoes are winning design and technology distinctions all over the world – most recently the ISPO Product of the Year and Gold Award for the Best Performance Shoes 2017/18. World Champions and elite athletes win constantly in On.

On’s ingenious CloudTec sole is patented worldwide. Seven years after market launch, On is available at more than 5,000 specialist running stores and over 50 countries in Europe, North America, South America and Asia-Pacific.

How does On’s patented CloudTec® system work?

Cushioned landing, firm push-off: that’s the core concept behind the new running shoe by On, the young Swiss-based manufacturer. On’s patented technology combines all the benefits of a soft training shoe and a hard and fast racing shoe; a radical development in the sports industry. Land on the sand, push off from the running track!

The secret to this bold new dual functionality lies in the On’s “Clouds” – hollow pods on the sole of the shoe that stretch back on impact to cushion the landing and then lock to form the solid foundation required for a powerful push-off.

Athletes who have worn On and their coaches have reported greater muscle activation, new personal bests and shorter recovery times. These findings are also backed up by scientific research: independent studies by the reputed Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Switzerland have confirmed that the patented CloudTec® system substantially reduces athletes’ heart rates and blood lactate levels.
